Meaning no offence, but Buddhism has that beat.

Some Buddhists, like adherents of many religious faiths, have trouble seeing the value of viewpoints outside their own faith, and as a result, defend Buddhism as if it needed a defense.

In a peculiar (and somewhat humorous in tone, but still pertinent) article, Tom rates the Buddhistness of celebrities!

(And it's not so ironic to note that someone who affiliates so openly with Zen Buddhism would come out hard against tools that allow people to create groups around shared ideas. Zen, in practice, is a very solitary process.)

But I don't see Zaadz as a place with a single motive for its members - I think that we want to enable people of like minds (whether those minds be yogic, Buddhist, self-improvement-oriented) to congregate, communicate and cooperate, to create an atmosphere of wellness, support and abundance for ourselves and our members, and for ourselves - the wizards - to do so in a sustainable way that supports our own livelihoods.

Tom mentions that he ran from the Global Hunger Project because they wanted him to work for them for free (in their posh, expensive offices) - I can assure anyone reading this that we don't work for free, but each of us on the Zaadz team feel passionate about improving the world in some way. Funny thing is, we don't all agree on what ways that should be, but that's how it should be - a multitude of opinions.

That's it. Utimately, as I've said before: We're building tools, and doing it in a way so that we'll be around 5-10-15-20 years later without depending on donations or investments. It's up to our members to use them in ways that improve the world around us.

(Disclaimer: I consider myself part of the Rime traditions of Tibetan Buddhism, which has a considerably more "in-the-world" view, in my opinion, than Zen. Ultimately, I'm wrong about that statement, but I prefer to use the raw material of my life to cultivate mindfulness, in addition to my meditation, breathing and yoga practices.)

Now this is a grounding (life style) I resonate with, “the raw material of my life to cultivate mindfulness, in addition to my meditation, breathing and yoga practices.” Yea! Go Jake go!!!

I love that Jake!!!
